bout 30 km from Marrakech starts the magnificent green Ourika valley leading to the High Atlas mountains. It’s an ideal place to enjoy tranquillity, the freshness of the Ourika river with a number of little waterfalls and to admire the little Berber villages which are built against the red mountains. The winding road ends at the village of Setti Fatma at an altitude of 1700 meters from where different trails start to the famous waterfalls. The climb to the first waterfall is fairly easy and at that point, you have already a fascinating view over the valley and the mountains of Yaghour.  The trail to the other seven waterfalls is more difficult. There is a possibility to hire a local guide who will bring you to the waterfalls.

For lunch, we stop in the village Arhbalou where there is a choice of nice restaurants next to the river.

If you visit the Ourika valley on Monday you can also visit the market at Tnine Douar de l’Ourika where Berbers from the mountain villages sell and buy their local products and handicrafts, such as lanterns, carved furniture, and colored glass.

During summer you will enjoy the pleasant coolness of the valley, during winter there might be snow at the highest parts.
