“Hi! Can you tell me which is the best month to visit Morocco?” –Karen, Manchester, UK
At Desert Morocco Adventures, one of the friendliest Morocco tour operators, we get this question all the time from our clients. What’s the best month to visit Morocco.
Morocco is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and perhaps the hottest tourist destination in North Africa. Close to 3 million foreign tourists visit Morocco every year.
It is easy to see why Morocco is so popular…
….It has something to offer to everyone, something new and exciting, an experience to treasure forever. The best month to visit Morocco or the best time to visit Morocco will depend on what you plan to do here and what you want to see.
What’s the Best Month to Visit the Atlas Mountains?
There is nothing more exciting than a trek to the Atlas Mountains. The Atlas Mountains are always in the backdrop no matter where you are in Morocco. The best months to go on a hiking trip to these majestic mountains are from April to May (Spring) or from September to October (Fall).
That’s when the weather is at its best at the Atlas Mountains. But really, you can visit the Atlas Mountains all through the year. Even the summers here are reasonably mild.
Winters can get cold, but as long as you have proper clothing, you should be fine.
What’s the Best Month to Visit the Imperial Cities of Morocco?
The Imperial Cities of Morocco, Fez and Marrakesh, attract hundreds of thousands of foreign tourists every year. The best months to visit them are from April to May and from September to November.
That’s when the climate here is at its best, not too hot and not too cold. Also, you won’t have to deal with the maddening crowds that you typically see during the Holiday Season in winter and during summer.
What’s the Best Month to Visit the Moroccan Coast?
You may accuse us of bias, but we have no doubt in our mind that Morocco has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We have a vast, largely unspoiled coastline that stretches for miles and miles. Also, our beaches are not as overcrowded as some of the beaches in Spain, for example.
The best time to plan a holiday on the Moroccan Coast is during the summer when it’s sunny and the temperatures are mild. The summer months in Morocco are from June to August. That’s when the sea is at its best behavior: A great time to go scuba diving, snorkeling, rafting, swimming and other fun stuff.
What’s the Best Month to Visit the Sahara Desert?
The Sahara Desert is one of the most spectacular sights on the planet and it’s something you have to visit at least once in your life. The best time to visit the Sahara Desert in Morocco is during spring or fall when the weather is at its very best: Cool, but not cold, and certainly not hot.
So the best months to visit the Sahara Desert in Morocco are from April to May (Spring) or from September to October (Fall).
A good time to visit Morocco is during the festive season when everyone is in a good mood. April is when we have the Kelaa-des-Mgouna Rose Festival and October is the month of the Erfoud Date Festival.
You can also visit during Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, which are the most sacred events in Islam.
