The country is characterized by its Berber, Arab, Jewish, and European cultural influences. Algeria and Mauritania are the land borders to the south and east. The High Atlas Mountains separate the temperate coast from the rugged desert. Although the country is undergoing rapid modernization while preserving its ancient traditions, it is a good example of combining modernization with ancestral culture, which can be considered as a good model for other countries.
