Morocco Travel QuestionsCategory: MoroccoWhat to bring for an overnight stay in the Sahara Desert of Morocco?
Rafel asked 1 year ago

I am planning to do a 3-day desert trip from Marrakech with an overnight stay in the Sahara desert. Wondering what to wear while adventuring in the desert. I've also heard that I can buy some clothes in Marrakech if I forget to bring something. What do you think you should pack for the trip to the Sahara desert in Morocco?

What to bring for the night in the Sahara desert of Morocco
In the desert, it is usually a bit warmer than in other places. When I go to the desert, I always wear light, loose-fitting long pants with a long-sleeved shirt and a scarf to protect against the sun and wind. Long trousers are also suitable for riding a camel, as they protect your legs from being scratched when the camel moves faster.
We've had a post before about what to wear in Morocco in general, check it out

What to bring for an overnight stay in the Sahara Desert of Morocco?

Heavy clothing should really not be on your list, except a good jacket for cold nights during the winter season. In general, light clothing with long sleeves is sufficient. Your clothes should be soft enough and loose enough that you don't feel the heat. Be sure to bring sunglasses, good walking shoes, sunscreen, a scarf, a bottle of water, a small backpack for small items. If you also take certain medications, make sure you have enough for your trip.

What to bring for the night in the Sahara desert of Morocco

If you plan to spend the night in a desert camp, bring a flashlight if you don't have a smartphone. Also don't forget a coat and a small amount of money from the ATM in Rissani for tipping the staff.
