I hope you're doing well! I'm planning an exciting trip from Marrakech out to the desert in Merzouga and was wondering if you could provide some information. Could you tell me approximately how long the drive from Marrakech to the desert typically takes? I'm planning to take N9 and N12. I'm trying to plan my itinerary and would appreciate any insights you can provide.

Thanks for asking! driving from Marrakech to Merzouga is quite the journey—about 9 to 11 hours, covering roughly 560 kilometers. The drive via N9 and N12 offers stunning views of mountains and valleys like Draa valley.

I'd recommend doing the drive trip from Marrakech to Merzouga desert in 2 days if it is possible! You can start your trip early to enjoy the daylight and even breaking the trip up with some visits stops on the way, like visiting Ait Ben Haddou and Taourirt kasbha. Both are great spots to see.

We have a riad in Tamsahelte called Riad Du Sud ( you are more than welcome!) maybe you can overnight there and the next day further drive to Merzouga.

Don't forget to pack water, snacks, and your camera for some amazing photo ops, especially as you approach the dramatic landscapes of the Sahara.
