What can you expect from this 3-day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga?
On this 3-day, 2-night adventure to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi you will discover the magic sight of the big south of Morocco. During the tour, you will have a close personal experience of the desert, including an opportunity to visit several oases, explore a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and spend the night time beneath the stars in a camp in the middle of the Sahara Desert.
On the first day, you will be picked up from your chosen location in Marrakech, continue into the Atlas Mountains, and cross the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. On the way, you will visit the historic Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou near Ouarzazate, which has been registered as a UNESCO heritage site since 1987. You will spend the first night in the Dades gorge near the village of Boumalne du Dades.
On day two we travel towards the “ valley of 1,000 Kasbahs”. We will be able to visit the Gorges of Todra. In the evening you can enjoy the local traditional music of nomads while dining under thousands of stars. On the last day of our trip, after enjoying the sunrise on the dunes, you will ride your camel back to the hotel in Merzouga. After showering, we drive towards the valley of the Draa and we visit the Kashba of Tamnougalt. After lunch, we return to Marrakesh through the High Atlas Mountains.

Tizi-n-Tichka: We follow the winding road with ups and downs through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass to the High Atlas Mountains. Tizi-n-Tichka is a mountain pass between Marrakech and Ouarzazate, nicknamed the Sahara Gate with beautiful panoramic views of the mountains. If you wish, we can visit a nearby Berber women’s argan oil cooperative to learn how this amazing product is made traditionally.
Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou: Ait Ben Haddou is the most famous fortified Moroccan Kasbah and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. A visit to this attractive ancient Berber village is part of our program. We also visit Kasbah Taourirt, located on the road to the Dades Valley, and the Atlas Film Studio, where you will be surprised by different kinds of sets served in famous movies such as Kundun.
Roses Valley: As the name implies, this valley is famous for rose cultivation and rose beauty products. Roses are dotted along the road. Every year the town of M’Gouna hosts the Rose Festival in mid-May.
Dades Gorges: We travel along the Valley of 1000 Kasbahs to the spectacular gorge on the left of the road before the entrance to the town of Boumalne Dades. Dades Gorges is a magnificent river gorge that offers beautiful landscape views and characteristic red rock formations.
Todra Gorges: On the second day, we take a short walk along the river that runs through this spectacular gorge. Todra Gorges is a breathtaking 600m high gorge in the Atlas Mountains
Erg Chebbi: Erg Chebbi is located near the desert village Merzouga and is well known for its beautiful orange dunes. Once we arrive at this place, you will ride on camelback to the elegant nomad camp in the middle of the desert and there you can climb the highest dunes to witness a fantastic sunset. In the evening you can enjoy a nice traditional dinner by the campfire where the local Berbers play their music. You can spend the night under millions of stars if the weather permits it.

Our 3-day Sahara desert tour from Marrakech starts at 08:00 in the morning. We depart for Ouarzazate, where you can enjoy the view of the Berber villages with snow-capped peaks in the background. Spend some time in Ait Benhaddou as it has garnered the attention of movie producers for its wonderful natural scenery. Cross the river with your guide and then discover the Ksar. From there, you can consider climbing the hill if you want to have a glimpse of the majestic beauty of the fertile river valley that is surrounded by a desert-like environment. What makes this experience great is that you will also visit a cinema studio where you can still see some of the sets used in Hollywood movies and discover a very beautiful valley on the way to the famous Dades Gorge. After all the adventures of the day, you will rest in a traditional hotel.

A trip from Dades Valley to Merzouga and the Sahara desert
Drive through the Dades Valley’s Berber Villages for you to reach a spot that has been popular for both natives and tourists who want to engage in rock climbing. Inside the gorge, you can admire high cliffs of gray and pink color. You can also take a walk along the 300-meter-high canyons. After lunch, on the way to Erfoud and Rissani, we head to Merzouga. After reaching the desert village of Merzouga, you would experience camel riding in the sand dunes to the Sahara desert camp. Here you can also experience sandboarding and enjoy fantastic sunsets. However, rest assured that the whole day trip will be fun. You spend the night in a camp in the middle of the dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Wake up early so you can witness another amazing sunrise as you gaze out over the dunes. This is something you should never miss! We return by camel and have breakfast at the hotel. After you have taken a shower, it is now time to drive to the Draa Valley, a place that many want to visit. After lunch in Nkob, we return to Marrakech by crossing several small villages and the High Atlas Mountains. To confirm the booking, the customer must make a deposit of at least 20% of the total order value. Our travel agent will provide the customer with all available payment options. The deposit must be received and cleared before a tour package is confirmed.

- Travelers can cancel up to 7 days before the travel start date to receive a full refund.
- Between 4-6 days, the customer will be charged a service fee of 50% of the total order value.
- Travelers who cancel a trip less than 4 days before the departure of the trip will not receive a refund.
- If the trip is canceled due to natural disasters or safety reasons, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.

Is this tour available next week?
Yes, as it is a private Sahara desert tour, it is available all year round. So you can book it whenever you want, but it is advisable to book in advance so that we can offer you the best accommodation.
Can I participate in a group tour?
Unfortunately, this is not possible as we currently only organize private tours in Morocco. So if you want to take this trip with us, it will be private. It depends on how many people you are traveling with, from our side we will provide you with an experienced driver/guide and a comfortable vehicle as well as fancy accommodation and we take care of all the activities. For such a trip we usually use a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado vehicle.
Is it possible to combine this tour with other activities?
Yes, it is possible, but let us know in advance so that we can set up an itinerary that includes all of your desired activities.
What language does the driver/guide speak?
Our driver/guide speaks English, French, and Spanish. We are actually focused on English, but we also have Dutch-speaking guides for large groups.
