Morocco Travel QuestionsCategory: MoroccoMarrakech desert tours for 3 days available?
Tim asked 1 year ago

Hello, my girlfriend and I are planning to visit Morocco this year and it will be our first time. Very excited to see Marrakech. Our journey begins with the fight from Brussels to Marrakech. We only have 5 days so it seems best to stay in the Marrakech area and save other places for a future visit. We also like to see the Sahara desert. We are thinking about doing a 3-day trip to the Sahara, but we are not sure about the destination yet. What are the best Marrakech desert tours available for 3 days?

Expert advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Marrakech desert tours for 3 days available?

The best Marrakech desert tours available for 3 days are Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga types. Check the URLs below:

  • What is the best desert for a Marrakech 3 days tour?

The best Sahara Desert I can think of is Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga. Although they are both so beautiful and it is quite difficult to compare them. Not surprisingly, Erg Chegaga is wilder. Erg Chebbi and Erg Chegaga offer great desert experiences in Morocco, but the best desert tour for you depends on your personal preferences and travel style.

    Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga?

Erg Chebbi: Located in the nearby Berber village of Merzouga, Erg Chebbi is known for its towering orange-colored sand dunes, which can reach 150 meters in height. The desert area is home to several Berber villages and you can experience the local culture by staying in a traditional desert camp, taking a camel ride, and gazing at the stars at night. A typical 3-day Marrakech desert tour to Erg Chebbi includes a scenic drive through the Atlas Mountains, an overnight stay in the dramatic Dades Gorge, a visit to Ait Benhaddou, an ancient ksar, and a night in a desert camp under the stars.

On the other hand, Erg Chegaga is located near the desert town of M'hamid and is known for its vast, undulating sand dunes that can reach up to 300 meters in height. The area is wilder and less touristy than Erg Chebbi, and you can experience a more rugged and adventurous side of the Sahara. A typical 3-day Marrakech desert tour to Erg Chegaga includes a visit to the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a drive through the beautiful Draa Valley, a visit to the ancient library of Tamgrout, and a night in a chic desert camp.

Finally, both Erg Chebbi and Erg Chegaga offer unique and unforgettable desert experiences, so it's up to you to decide which best suits your preferences and travel style. If you're looking for a more cultural experience and don't mind the crowds, Erg Chebbi might be the best option for you. However, if you are looking for a more adventurous experience, Erg Chegaga may be the better choice.
