Desert Morocco Adventure has been adding lately a few new tours that cover the most beautiful sights of the country. Most of our Morocco desert tours from Marrakech are including an overnight in the Sahara desert and a short camel trek in the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Many only know Morocco as the land of the red city. Besides the country’s coasts that stretch along the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, Morocco also has a vast Sahara desert. It attracts hundreds of thousands of sun-seeking travelers every year.

Fortunately, Morocco has much more to offer than long coasts. The interesting local life with cultural and historical richness takes place mainly inland. In addition, Morocco has a very charming nature, a warm climate, and a variety of landscapes. If you’re planning to see the most beautiful desert part of the country, you’ve come to the right place, we’ve selected some interesting Morocco desert tours from Marrakech that might be of interest to you.

Morocco Desert Tours From Marrakech

It has been very quiet since the start of Covid-19 and the tourism industry is really struggling. Glad we’re back to work and can welcome guests again. Currently, COVID certification or a 48-hour negative PCR test is mandatory. The rules can always change so keep an eye on the health ministry‘s website if you are planning to travel to Morocco. Below you will find an example of the Moroccan desert tours from Marrakech that we organize daily.

3-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fez

Marrakech is the city where this tour starts in the direction of the most beautiful sand dunes in the country. On the first day of this trip, we travel through the beautiful landscape of the High Atlas Mountains with snowy peaks, but the further south we go, you will witness how the landscape changes. We will see on the way to the desert different great examples of Moroccan architecture such as the ancient village of Ait Ben Haddou which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Also nearby we will visit the cinema studio where some famous Hollywood movies were shot. The first night you will spend in a traditional kasbah in the Dades canyon after a few hours of driving through the rose valley.

On the second day, you will enter Morocco’s most spectacular canyon, the Todra Gorge. Todra Gorge is a series of high cliffs of 600 meters high and a river that runs through the middle of the gorge. Here we take a very short walk along the river. Later we go to Rissani. Rissani is known as the former great caravan center, but what makes it even more exciting than the palm groves and kasbahs, is the souk. Later, we will find camel guides waiting for us at a hotel near the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. You leave your unnecessary luggage for the desert at the hotel and we leave before sunset by camel to the desert camp where you will spend the night. Here you can climb the highest dune to enjoy a spectacular view and the sunset. You can enjoy your dinner next to the fire while nomads play their Berber music and if the weather permits you can sleep under millions of stars. The next day, after enjoying the sunrise, we head back by camels to the hotel and continue our journey to Fez, passing through Erfoud and the Ziz Valley. 3-Day Tour from Marrakech to the Sahara

Our by far most popular tour is the 3-day desert tour. This tour starts and ends in Marrakech. On this tour, we will do the same for the first two days as in the 3 days desert tour from Marrakech to Fez that you may have already read. The only things that are different are the activities of the last day, instead of driving to Fez, this time we drive towards Ouarzazate via the Draa Valley which is known for its spectacular palm groves and stylish kasbahs. 4-Day Desert Trip From Marrakech to the Desert

If you have more days to spend in Morocco, it is recommended to do the desert with departure from Marrakech in 4 days instead of 3 days, because the last day of the 3 days Marrakech desert tour is a long journey. We have a 4-day Marrakech desert tour available that can be booked anytime. It is almost the same route as the 3-day desert trip, the only thing that is changed is that this time instead of driving directly from Merzouga to Marrakech, we spend another night en route in a Berber village near the town of Tazzarine, and the next day we travel to Marrakech.

These are just a few of the desert tours that we offer, check our Morocco tours page for a clear description of the itinerary and whether you want a multi-day tour or want to travel to another location. If you have more days to spend, it is recommended to do the desert tours in more than 3 days, because some days it is a long drive and there are always some places on the way which are worth a visit and can be included as an extra day. If you want to read more about our desert tours in Marrakech, check this page Morocco Desert Tours.  If you are traveling with children, keep in mind that children tire quickly and a three-day trip to the desert is not justified. 3 days is not enough when traveling from Marrakesh. In this post, we have a perfect 3-day itinerary of the Sahara Desert from Marrakesh for those traveling with kids.
