Mountain trekking from Marrakech to the High Atlas

Day 1: Marrakech

Arriving at the airport of Marrakech, we will pick you up and take you to a hotel or Riad in the Medina of Marrakech. Depending on your arrival, you could visit the city

Day 2: Marrakech to Tachddirt

You meet our team after breakfast and when all our luggage is packed we begin walking across the area towards Tacheddirt. Soon the trail starts to increase once we rise up to Tizi n’Tamatert (2279m). We then descend towards the village of Ouaneskra and proceed for about half an hour to Tacheddirt (3000m) where we usually camp close to the river. 5 hours walk.

Day 3: Tacheddirt to  Azib Likemt

After early breakfast, we begin our first hard day on our trip. We will hike to one of the highest passes in the Toubkal area, called Tizi Likemt (3555m). Some almonds may be offered on top and we continue our journey towards the shelters of Likemnt where we set up our camp.

Day 4: Azib Likemt to Amsouzert

We walk along the Ourain valley, 3100m, which offers excellent views from the top over the Berber village as well as the Toubkal mountains in the south. We trek right down to the village of Amsouzert, where we stay in a local house nearby the village.

Day 5: Amsouzert to Ifni Lake

Today is quite a short walk of 4 hours passing by several villages to reach a beautiful river that’s surrounded by rugged hills. We spend there the afternoon nearby the lake. Overnight in camp.

Day 6: Ifni Lake to Nelter Hut

Today, we begin our trekking early in the morning to climb a hill towards the highest peak of the Toubkal region (3660m). Then we go right down to the bottom, maximum 3207m. 7 hours walk. Overnight in tents.

Day 7: Toubkal Summit to Marrakech.

We leave our camp early morning at 6 am, to get to the greatest peak in northern Africa (4167m), with its excellent views of Berber villages and the Atlas mountains. After lunch, we hike down to Imlil for another 3hours. Once we arrive in Imlil our driver will wait for us to take us back to Marrakech.

Day 8  Airport drop off

On this day our driver will bring you the airport, but if you wish to stay more days in Marrakech than you have to book a riad in Marrakech yourself and you can just let us know what your plans are so that our driver can drop you off at your accommodation. As we have already mentioned, the trip can be adapted to your needs as well as the number of days in the Atlas mountains. If you think that a 7 hours walk is too hard for you, we can add another extra day to make the walking hours shorter
