4 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech Overview

A 4-day tour starting from Fez to Marrakech via the desert village Merzouga and Valley of the Roses. On the second day in the Erg Chebbi desert, we will overnight in a camp in Berber tents and camel trek around the desert dunes. The next day will be Tinghir and visit the Todra gorge. From Tinghir we drive along the valley of Roses in the direction of Ouarzazate. In this city, we will visit the cinema studios and Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. This 4 day trip offers plenty of action and adventure such as hiking and camel trekking, and exploration of the south of Morocco and it will bring you closer to the Berber culture. Daily departures are guaranteed if the required persons per group are complete.

Day 1: Fez – Midelt – Merzouga

Departure from Fes to Merzouga, the Berber village near the dunes of Erg Chebbi, passing by Ifrane city, Midelt and the gorges and the valley of Ziz to arrive in the end of the day at the sand dunes. We spend the night in a Kasbah

Day 2: Merzouga: the tour of the dunes – Gnawa village

Wonderful Experience: you will benefit early in the morning from a splendid sunrise on the tops of the dunes close to the kasbah where you have spent the night. After breakfast, you will make a tour of the dunes by 4×4 where you have the opportunity to visit nomad people. Then you will do a small part of the Paris Dakar Rally to visit Khamliya village, home of the blacks of sub-Saharan origin to assist dance and Gnawa music. Hereafter you will visit the lake with the pink flamingos in full black desert. Lunch will be in Rissani, the oldest imperial city and an economic center for the area. You will visit the souk of artisanal spices and products and have lunch at a local restaurant. The night will be in a camp in Berber tents in the middle of the desert after having a camel ride in order to reach the camp.

Day 3: Merzouga – Todgha Gorge – Dades Valley

After breakfast and shower, we depart from Merzouga towards the gorges of Dades passing by Rissani. Then we continue to Erfoud where you will visit a marble factory where they make tables and other handicrafts from fossils. Then a visit to the Todgha Gorge in Tinghir is planned and finally, you will arrive at the Dades Gorge. The night will be in a guesthouse where you have the occasion to share a little of the traditions of Berber families.

Day 4: Dades valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Transfer to Marrakesh passing by the Valley of the Roses where an annual festival is held to celebrate the pink roses. There is the possibility to see products made from the roses. You will drive along the road of 1000 Kasbah. The next stop is the oasis of Skoura to visit the Kasbah of Amredil. In Ouarzazate, you will visit one of the film studios and then drive further to the beautiful Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the oldest Kasbah in South Morocco. The Kasbah was built in the 11th century and it was recognized by UNESCO World Heritage in 1987. A lot of famous films have been taken in Ait Ben Haddou, such as The Mummy, Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Astérix. At the end of the day, you arrive in Marrakech via the Tizzi’n Titchka.
